Ordered my new Robbins canvas top from Moss Miata on Tuesday, thing was at my door on Wednesday!
I’ve been playing phone tag with the installer, but hopefully we’ll connect on Monday so I can get on his schedule. Much excite to have it weatherproof with an upgraded top!

The Robbins top I put on my MR2 upped the overall quality (and looks) by about 500%.

I’m hoping for the same - the current top is the OEM vinyl one in not great shape, so I’m hoping this will be worth the investment.

I put one on my NB. Worked great!
Edit- I had a pro install

MR2s has a glass window, but the corners would tear at the top. I patched my OEM a few times, but finally threw in the towel and got the canvas.

Yeah this is something I’m not messing with. I’ve watched the videos and it looks super fiddly.

Awesome choice, on both parts. Robbins really does try to make a better top than the OEM one was. Also, paying someone else to install it is the best money you can spend on a Miata.
I replaced one myself on my former NB, and that is a job I will never, ever, under and circumstances do again. It came out great, and there is no special magic involved in doing it, but it is a long, long tedious job of which no part is particularly enjoyable. I say that from the perspective of someone who has turned wrenches for a living. Pay that person with a smile on your face.

I put one on my NA in my garage. Huge upgrade from the stock plastic window one (even not taking into account that my plastic window was ripped). Install wasn’t particularly difficult, I’d be willing to pay $3 00 or so to have it done, but any more than that I’d gladly do it again.

Oh I am, especially with it being cold and rainy outside over the next couple weeks. I only have a carport, so I wouldn’t even be able to start and stop like I could if I had a garage. The shop also came via recommendation from the local Miata club, so I’ve also seen his work too.

Mine is the NC, so (I’m told) it’s a little more challenging. I’ll be paying him $400 for the labor and I honestly don’t feel bad about that. I’ll be in the new top for $1100ish altogether, for a worthwhile upgrade to the car.

Just adding some pics:
Apparently I don’t have any good,
readily-available pics that show the top up. But compare that with the OEM. When I swapped the new top (in 2009), I’d considered a few different color options, and landed on the red. Had considered going with black and bl

cking out the pillars, but decided that’d look too faux-racery. I loved the combo of the subtle outside mods with the underbody bracing and tires making for a way-better-handling yet classier look.

That looks great!

Heh - that’s basically my plan for the Miata, lol. I’m (eventually) planning to black out the windshield frame and mirrors with a black wrap.

I loved the hell out of that car. Would have kept it forever if I could have. I’d also thought about a couple greys, or a desert-camo tan, but I beat the Audi/Fiat white-red combo by a couple years. Quieter on the road, never leaked, and the window reinforcement stitching alone was worth the price of admission.
Found my favorite pic of it:
Holy crap, this got me looking at MR2s for sale, and prices have gone WAY up recently. I sold mine in 2014, after almost 9 years. Will miss it forever. Mine was a real unicorn.

Make sure to test the waterproofness after install. My professionally installed Robbins top leaks like a sieve.

Oy - any recommended practices for testing? Just spray it everywhere with a hose and then feel around inside?

That’s not bad. $1100 total to drop it off and just have it done is very reasonable.
